Satellite services? Television transmission

Nice satellite image services, I found:

Satellite services? Television transmission

Satellite - television transmission services.

What are Satellites?

Satellites are small object orbiting around large objects. The Moon is actually a satellite orbiting the Earth. The Moon is a natural satellite, but today when we speak about satellites we mean human made machines that orbit around the Earth for various purposes.

Satellite services - what are the satellites used for?

There are a wide variety of satellite services. Satellites can be used for military purposes, weather forecasts, navigation (GPS), communication (data transmission), internet and much more.

One of the most frequent uses of satellites is to transmit television around the world.

3 types of Satellites

Orbit of satellites around the Earth. There are 3 types of satellites sorted by distance from the orbit of the Earth.

The low-Earth orbit (LEO) - this satellite orbits the Earth at a distance of 160-480 km because it is so close to Earth, it must orbit at a rapid speed to prevent gravity to pull down. LEO satellites move at a speed of approximately 28 000 km / hour and can complete an orbit around the Earth in about an hour and a half.

Orbit average (MEO) - this satellite orbits Earth at a distance of 9 000 to 18 000 km, they are mainly above of the Poles North/South communication satellites. Patter of their orbit is oval. Because these satellites are still more the land of the first group, it is necessary for the monitoring of systems down here on Earth to keep track of these satellites.

Geostationary earth Orbit (GEO) - this satellite orbits the Earth at a distance of 35,60 km of Earth and orbits of Earth at the same speed that our planet revolves around itself. This means that the satellite is stationary over the same position all the time. Generally, there is a need of 3 different GEO satellites cover the Earth (without taking into account the Poles). These satellites are used mainly for communication, constant or weather satellite services.

How satellites transmit television channels?

The origin of a studio broadcast of television programmes, it may be a live broadcast or a recorded TV program. The program is translated into a signal. The signal is sent to the satellite with a process called - uplink. When it is received to the satellite, the signal is transmitted to another satellite using a process called shift, or it is sent back to Earth using a process called downlink. When a signal is on back linked to the earth it is received by a satellite dish which we all know.

Because all of the binding process and down linking, there is a delay in transmission of a few seconds. This is why viewers of a cable channel it will see a few seconds before the spectators of a satellite channel.
